Also called Tarte Tartin…the Classic French Apple Tart is a Tangy Light Crumbly dessert that is a joy to behold!
Sprinkle some flour on work surface, roll out pie/tart dough into a circle.
Drape it over tart dish, and press in place.
Spread a thin even layer of apple compote.
Top with peeled, thinly sliced apples arranged in concentric circles.
Sprinkle with a little sugar.
Bake in a 350 degree oven till caramelized & golden, about 1 hour.
Serve warm with whipped cream or a la mode with French Vanilla Ice cream!
For the apple compote:
Peel & dice apples. Cook them with a little sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract and a tbsp of water till translucent but not completely mushy!
