Day 1 of My Desi Detox

DAY 1 is primarily Fruit Day supplemented by a little tomato soup!

imageimageimageimageI started the day with a plateful of fresh fruit. Living in NY we are lucky to be blessed with a variety of fresh fruit all year long….and I had strawberries, pears, kiwi and blueberries as my breakfast.
Around mid-morning, I set my pot of water to boil to make the wonderfully calming and soothing Ayurvedic CCF Tea It helped relax me and banish any cravings that might have been triggered as I made breakfast for my kids. I must have had 3 really large cups of the Ayurvedic Spice Tea
Afternoon lunch were a couple of crunchy Fuji apples and another cupful of the spice tea.
Evening snack was a large juicy pear. However since I did not have any salt all day, I started feeling slightly light headed. So had a small cup of Tomato Soup…that made me feel a whole lot better.
Dinner was a plate of cut fruit, papaya and guava sprinkled with kala namak and a big cup of warm Tomato Soup

With this my fruit day….comes to an end & I look forward to tomorrow’s day of potato and vegetables.

ROUND 2
I started the day off with a cup of AYURVEDIC SPICE TEA and a big bowl of fruit salad (pear, papaya, kiwi, berries) with a light dressing of lemon juice, chopped mint and lemon zest which left me quite full!

Late morning, saw me a little drowsy…and I fell into a deep restful sleep for almost 2 hours!
Lunch was some delicious juicy ripe persimmon and star fruit accompanied by rock salt and lime. This was followed by 3 cups of Ayurvedic. Spice Tea ….that I sipped for most of the afternoon! The sugar in the fruits was enough to keep me energized. Sipping Tea helped keep me calm, focused and also helped keep food cravings at bay.

Evening I snacked on a few grapes along with a movie. Watching the movie helped keep my mind off any temptations!
Dinner was a big bowl of TOMATO SOUP, an orange and a small bowl of cut Papaya.

Drinking the warm delicious soup was very satisfying…while the fruit helped fill me up.
I feel slightly light headed this time around…but look forward to my day of salads and vegetables tomorrow! 🙂

ROUND 1
One of the first things, I started the day with was this calming soothing AYURVEDIC SPICE TEA

Sipping this through out the period of detox, keeps your body hydrated and mind calm and focused!
Give it a try….you will love it whether on detox or not! 🙂
I drank this all day….a total of about 5 cups.

Breakfast was an oversized bowl of sweet juicy Papaya

Lunch was some HEALTHY FRUIT KABABS

A simple easy to execute idea that is so much fun! Have your kids assist you as they learn the importance of including different kinds of fruits in their diet!

Dinner was…The SIMPLEST TOMATO SOUP EVER, dare I also say the best! 🙂

I chanced upon this super simple recipe a couple of years back, on a visit to India. My mom was taken ill and our cook, Ambika would make this delicious light soup for her morning and evening to help her recuperate!
I had two bowls of tomato soup, one in the evening before my swim workout and one after….followed by a small bowl of blueberries!

With this I sign off for the day, I have already started feeling the happy effects of the detox taking place….a day of fruit and soup felt very restful and comforting!
See you tomorrow….Good night!

PS: I made enough soup to last me for two more meals

I also soaked Sabut moong daal yesterday and now have it ready for sprouting for use later this week! 🙂

    • No mangoes allowed. No nuts or almond milk either. I’ve only used raw mango in one of my detox recipes, and that too more as a vegetable.
