Get Detox Ready!

On popular demand, I am creating a special post, to help you get DETOX READY!
But first a little background info about Detoxing…my Desi Way.
In the coming next week, I plan to share how I detox and refresh my self…Mind & Body, by following some simple home grown recipes that focus on fresh fruits & vegetables in the first part of the week followed by dairy, lentils and lean meats in the later half!

I have been doing this every quarter for more than 10 years now and it works great for me, so come see how I do it!
I will also be posting recipe ideas and anecdotes, as I progress through each day of the program.

‘Getting Detox Ready’ translates to prepping your self at two levels.

One is the mental aspect, where you dig-in deep into your psyche, to find the will power and inner strength to carry this program through the entire period of 7 days with all honesty and sincerity. I have seen that once my inner decision is made, I can proceed through the program, much more calmly. I have no significant cravings for foods not permitted during the program like caffeine and sugar. No temptation can shake me off my resolve! What I’m trying to say, is one must embrace the program whole heartedly and positively, as doing something good for yourself…rather than force your self into it!

The other aspect (and the easier one) is getting supply ready!
As this detox is not about depriving your self or keeping your self hungry, it’s very important to make an effort to prep and cook according to the guidelines for each day.
Planning ahead, and shopping for detox friendly food, will greatly help in this regard. Because if you have a variety of fresh, healthy ingredients, ready at hand, you are less likely to feel lazy about cooking them.
Sharing pics of the cart fulls of produce we typically buy in preparation of the Detox! Even though my family doesn’t always join in, they support and encourage me, by enjoying all the soups, salads and stir-frys, that I whip up during the course of the week! πŸ™‚
