Loved by adults & kids alike it is easily the most popular chicken dish among Desis! Tandoori chicken has now crossed all borders to be loved the world over! I favor a two point marination to make this…especially if the chicken is to be bbqcued on an outdoor grill!
For the Tandoori Drumsticks:
Make good cuts on all sides of the drumsticks ( or a combination of drumsticks & thighs) and marinate them in a light marinade of salt, ginger- garlic paste & lemon juice for a few hours. After 2-3 hours drain juices from chicken and keep aside. In a bowl mix 2 tsp each of ginger-garlic paste, 2tbsp thick yoghurt, 1tbsp oil, salt and 11/2 tbsp of the Tandoori Masala.
Now rub the prepared mix all over the chicken and marinate for another 2-3 hours. Grill on a medium hot BBQ or bake in a 450f oven for about 40 minutes. Baste with butter intermittently till done (optional).
Serve with laccha pyaz…lime wedges and chat masala!
PS: If you are not inclined to make your own Tandoori masala, you can use store bought too! Among store bought ones, I prefer to use Shaan Tandoori Masala!
