No-Onion-Garlic Homestyle Alu-Matar-Paneer

imageBy far my fav way of enjoying Paneer!
This quick easy dish takes under 20 min to prepare…start to finish! You will love it’s clean simple flavors!
Almost stew like in consistency, it uses no onion or garlic and is easy on the stomach too!

Made with minimal ingredients and without adding any cream, it showcases simple homestyle cooking at its best!
Ingredients:

Method:
Heat a tsp of ghee/oil. Add a tsp of jeera and cook till it starts to splutter.

Now add 2 tsp minced ginger + green chillies.
Cook for a minute.

Add 1 large diced potato and cook for 1 minute.

Add 3/4 cup frozen/fresh peas.
Cook for another minute.

Add 1/2 tsp haldi pwdr, 1/2 tsp red chili pwdr and salt to taste. You can also add 1/2 tsp dhania pwdr (optional, I add, mom does not!). Cook for a minute, stirring to mix.
Now add 1/2 to 3/4 cup fresh tomato purée (depending on their sourness) and bring to boil.

Add 3/4 cup water and salt to taste and mix. Bring to boil.
Close lid of pressure cooker and cook still steam begins to form (1 whistle). Take off heat and let steam escape for 5 minutes.

Now place pressure cooker under gently running water to release residual steam. Open cooker, add about 3/4 cup diced paneer (I like to pan sear it with a spray if oil, mom adds it raw)

Simmer the curry for 3-4 minutes…so that the flavors seep into the paneer….serve garnished with freshly chopped dhania and soft roti/jeera rice!
