Healthy Rasam Vade….made in the appe pan, a perfect pick me up in this cold dreary weather!
Method:
Soak udad daal for 2 hours. Drain and grind with as little water as you possibly can along with some ginger and green chillies. Now beat the ground mix with a hand mixer till light and fluffy and almost double!
You may add 1/2 tsp eno to the batter to make the Vade more light n airy!
If you like you can also Mix in chopped onions, green chillies and fresh dhania. Heat appe pan, spray with oil and spoon the dal batter into each hole.
Cover and cook till golden. Flip and cook on the other side.
Serve immersed in steaming hot Rasam, garnish with freshly chopped dhania!
PS: My Go-to-recipe for Rasam
Note: I like to keep a supply of these frozen in my freezer….that I defrost and use as needed.
To plump them up… I soak them in salted hot water for 20 minutes. Squeeze out water and use.
